The National Intercollegiate Rugby Association Power Rankings are out.
The algorithm waits until Week 3 to get fired up because it needs data. So now that we have that data, the first of weekly Power Rankings have been released.
We finally come out with our first D2 rankings.
Starting off from scratch is tough so we like to see a couple of weeks of results. Teams to watch right now include UNC-Wilmington, Cornell, Towson, UMS&T, and Miami of Ohio. We're not saying they're going to be major champions, necessarily, but we do think they are all stronger than last year.
It's easy to overlook Utah State.
The Aggies play in the Rocky Mountain Conference with some higher-profile teams, such as BYU, Utah, Air Force, Colorado, and Colorado State. But USU has done pretty well for itself as a rugby entity, and last year made the semis of the D1A Challenge Cup.
Nobody else might have expectations, but Utah State does.
We're still moving a little slowly this early in the season for D1A, but we have had some impressive showings.
Navy's win over Mary Washington was a head-turner for us. They move past Life, but remember that Life is coming back onto the field this week.
Illinois comes into the Top 25 after a good showing against Purdue. Utah State moves up after beating Air Force.
White Plains remains unbeaten in the ARP North, while the ARP South finally got underway this past weekend.
