National Collegiate Rugby has announced that recently-retired Eagle Alycia Washington is their new Director of Women’s Rugby.
One of the USA's all-time greats, Washington just recently played her final professional game in PWR and has also been working to start and grow the XV Foundation.
The SacAIR Islands stormed through the NAI 7s to win the Boys U18 Elite, and not that long ago they weren’t even sure they’d be competing.
“We didn’t really make the decision until about a month before the tournament,” said Head Coach Wayne Koi. “That was went we put in the request to take a U18 team.”
Following on the heels of the announcement of a team merger of two teams in MLR, Major League Rugby's NOLA Gold will reduce the league's number of teams, at least for a season.
The franchise announced Wednesday that it will not field a team for the 2026 season.
Officially the plans are to potentially move forward after 2026, but that's a stretch.
After defeating Fiji in a too-close-for-comfort test match July 19, the USA played against the same Fijian team in a scrimmage on the campus of Mount St. Mary's University in front of a boisterous crowd that responded at short notice.
That scrimmage ended with a USA win once more, and at 48-34 it was, once again, too close for comfort.
The USA and Canada women's national teams have named their squads to face each other at 7PM ET on Friday, July 26 at TD Place in Ottawa.
