Granite Bay knocked off #1-ranked Lamorinda 22-5 Saturday in Rugby NorCal action.
Ranked #3 among HS Clubs by FloRugby, Granite Bay won a hard-hitting battle thanks to a solid defensive effort.
It's all heating up in the Northern California Boys HS Premier leagues.
While Jesuit was off winning the All-California single-school title over St. John Bosco, the rest of the top teams were in action. Lamorinda built on their wins over Danville and SFGG with a 74-29 defeat of CK McClatchy.
Last year, Lamorinda took a tour to Ireland, played some rugby and saw some sights; in and of itself it was a fun and exciting time, but the benefits have been far-reaching, culminating last week in being ranked #1 among HS Clubs by FloRugby (in partnership with Goff Rugby Report).
Lamorinda shook up the Northern California, and indeed the national, high school scene with a 36-29 defeat of defending national HS Club champion Danville Oaks over the weekend.
For Lamorinda, this was a huge accomplishment and it’s not a coincidence that a couple of days later Lamorinda was invited to the 2019 HS National Championships.
Jesuit of Sacramento ran out winners in an intriguing Northern California matchup, taking CK McClatchy 35-19 Saturday.
The rain in California left the fields muddy but it was a sunny day, making for a day where players were covered in mud that then dried on them. That slowed down both teams at times.
