GRR: National Teams
The HS All Americans team will kick off the World School 7s Thursday afternoon US time, which is Friday morning in New Zealand, and today they finished up training, had a swim, and got their jerseys.
The players have been working hard getting ready for a very challenging pool which includes Condor New Zealand, Rugby Academy Fiji, and National Indigenous Australia.
The Boys HS All Americans are set up for the World School 7s this coming weekend.
Late injuries have reduced the squad, as the HSAA group in New Zealand without Nate Roeback and Levi Summerlin. There wasn't enough time to get anyone else to fill in, so the squad of 14 is now 12, which isn't so small.
A somewhat telling moment for the USA Women’s 7s team came in the third-fourth game against Australia.
Lauren Doyle had the ball and was angling to the outside. That’s where Cheta Emba was, and she cut inside to take a switch pass from Doyle to go through a huge gap to score. Emba punched her fist in the air, and that was the moment.
The USA Men's 7s teams issues returned in the latter stages of the Dubai 7s, as the Eagles struggled to dominate defensively, and saw errors lead to losses to Australia and New Zealand.
The USA women’s 7s team was unstoppable in Day Two action at the Dubai 7s.
Paced by a very physical approach and some strong running from Kristi Kirshe, the Eagles dispatched Russia 33-14 and Canada 34-10.
