Day One Latest from CRAA Men's 7s
Day One of the CRAA Men's 7s is in the books with Saint Mary's and Life looking very good in the D1A bracket, and the Ducks of Oregon and the Hawkeyes of Iowa leading the way among the D1AA teams.
The D1A bracket of six teams is a straight round-robin, with the top two playing for the championship.
D1AA Bracket and D1A Teams in Expanded CRAA Men's 7s
The Collegiate season officially ends this weekend with the CRAA Men’s 7s in Iowa City, Iowa.
For the first time in several years, CRAA will host a D1A-level tournament as well as their more regular D1AA event. The D1A bracket is small, and in a way a small step back into this realm, but it’s there, which wasn’t the case over the last two seasons.
Western Washington Climbs the Mountain
Western Washington defeated Iowa State in an excellent and well-played CRAA D1AA final on Sunday, claiming the second major rugby championship for the Vikings, following their 2024 D1AA 7s title.
For both WWU and Iowa State, this playoff run was one about unfinished business. Both had come so close only to fall short, usually at the hands of University of San Diego.
Midwest Conference Names All-Conference Selections and Award
The D1A Midwest Rugby Conference has announced its 2025–26 All-Conference selections and annual award winners, recognizing the top performers across the league for their excellence, consistency, and impact throughout the season.
Awards were voted by coaches and stats tallied through each team's six conference games.
D1A Challenger Bracket Produces Thrills
CRAA’s Challenger postseason completed its second iteration and certainly looked like a success.
Teams that don’t make the Round of 16 in the D1A playoffs have an opportunity to be in the D1A Challenger playoffs, and the last two years six teams have opted for that. Two teams took a bye to the semifinals, in this case Davenport and Utah.
