The Liberty D1 season got going this weekend with four games: Brown vs Siena, Dartmouth vs Syracuse, AIC vs Fairfield, and Iona vs Fordham.
All four games were competitive, or even extremely close.
Men's D1-level games this weekend were punctuated by non-conference games of differing levels of importance.
Some of the games this week were modified games or scrimmages, but we also had full-on games that served as preseason warmups. But what is additionally worth noting is these games cross conference boundaries, giving fans an idea of where those conferences sit competitively.

Japan secured top spot in Pool B of the Pacific Nations Cup early Saturday (US time) with a 41-24 defeat of the USA in Tokyo.
The Brave Blossoms certainly had to work for it in what was still a creditable performance by the USA, but Japan's speed of play and their skill level were too much for the Eagles.
