The HSBC Sevens World Series has started in a slightly different form, and a new-look USA men's team is looking fairly good.

With various countries able or not able to travel due to COVID fears, the tournament this weekend in Vancouver has 12 men's teams, including Great Britain (usually represented by three separate national teams) Germany, Chile, Hong Kong, Jamaica, and Mexico.

USA Men's 7s Head Coach Mike Friday has named his camp attendees for the upcoming Sevens World Series tournaments in Edmonton and Vancouver.

With Captain Madison Hughes announcing that he is taking time away from the team, and with the COVID shutdown (sort of) behind us as are the Olympics, there's space for new blood.

Chila Vista, Calif. (USA Rugby Release)—After seven years, two Olympic Games and numerous trips to the podium, USA Men’s Sevens Captain Madison Hughes has decided to step away from rugby with the intent to return sometime in the future.

World Rugby has announced a change to the 2021 Sevens World Series.

The season will now run from September 18 through December 12 with six events for the men and four events for the women.

Canada will host two men's events in September, with Vancouver's BC Place hosting the first tournament September 18-19, and then a week later Edmonton runs a men's event September 25-26.
