GRR: Scholz Award
The Rudy Scholz Award is given by the Washington Athletic Club of Seattle every year to the best Men's College rugby player in the USA.
Goff Rugby Report Editor Alex Goff works with the WAC to select the winner, which is chosen through a combination of votes by the rugby public, college rugby teams, and a selection panel.
It's that time again, as we start to think who might be the top college rugby players in the country.
That would be the Rudy Scholz Award for men and the MA Sorensen Award for women. The awards are selected by a combination of fan voting, coach voting, and a panel of experts.
Life University center Harley Wheeler, newly-minted D1A champion, has won the Rudy Scholz Award as the top men’s college player of 2018-19.
College teams as well as players and fans from around the country have voted to create the list of five finalists for the Rudy Scholz Award.
Given annually to the top men's college player in the country, the Rudy Scholz Award is sponsored by the Washington Athletic Club in Seattle, WA and has been presented each of the last three years.
Fans and teams can vote to whittle the Rudy Scholz and MA Sorensen award nominees down to the finalists.
