In a clash of two DII teams with big aspirations in the SCRC, Memphis came back to defeat Auburn 12-7 in a muddy mess of a game.
Auburn led for much of the match and performed admirable for a squad that has 13 freshmen and sophomores in the gameday 23, plus four players who have never played rugby before.
Illinois State bonced back from last week's loss to beat a tough Loyola side this week in Great Midwest Conference action.
Meanwhile, Marquette won their second in a row, taking down Northern Michigan 29-17.
We went into some detail about the Great Midwest and also the Southern Conference, but of course there's a lot more going on.
It was kind of a wild weekend in Men's DII college rugby as we saw a few surprise results.
But surprise results usually mean some players rose to the summit in terms of their performances. We have a wide range of Gamebreakers this week—scorers, tacklers, forwards, backs—and they all deserve some accolades.
Furman is ranked #1 in the latest GRR Men's D2 College Rankings and there's a good reason for that.
The Paladins have started strong and accomplished one of the things the rankings look for—beating a competitive team in a convincing manner. This past weekend's 48-10 result over Appalachian State is the latest example.
