Men NCR D1 Rankings Week 5 2025
We noticed we had something kind of weird here.
Michigan lost to Rio Grande, but we don't have Rio Grande in the rankings. Michigan also lost to Aquinas, and we do have Aquinas in the rankings, but below Michigan. Now, some would say that is, to coin a technical term, a "mistake."
Maybe it is ... but Rio hasn't won since that early preseason game with the Wolverines and we just wanted them to follow up a bit on that. We kind of felt the same way about Aquinas, but in the end we have relented and bumped Aquinas past Michigan. That has the side effect of moving Michigan down after they won a game.
Fairfield moves up after a one-point win over Siena. We still need to see more from them and that probably won't happen until October, when they take on, among others, Dartmouth and AIC. The win over Siena, coupled with Syracuse's win over Iona prompted Syracuse to get to #20.
So far this season has been a bit of a slow burn. We haven't seen too many high-level double-rankings matchups. Now we will. Queens plays Wheeling, Thomas More plays Marian, Brown plays Dartmouth, and Walsh plays St. Bonaventure. Futher down the list, Siena plays Syracuse.
So eight of our Top 10 are playing four games. Might we see a new #1? Absolutely. Even if Brown wins we might.
