The #2-ranked team in the Eastern half of D1A, the Lindenwood Lions, downed the Arkansas State Red Wolves 41-10 in the quarterfinals of the D1A Playoffs Saturday.
The Lions scored 34 unanswered points after being down 10-7 in the first half. Lindenwood was led in scoring by Evan Williams with 16 points, and Nick Hardrict II with two tries.
Here's a quick note on the DIA playoffs.
West Point beat Life 39-18 in a really interesting game in which Life kind of punched Army in the mouth early on. But some superb work from blindside flanker Koikoi Nelligan helped spark Army to come back and take the lead. Army's maul was very effective and their defense, after giving up an early try, was excellent.
The Eastern side of the DIA quarterfinals mirrors the Western side in that one matchup is one we've seen a couple of times before.
Getting to Central Washington's campus is difficult enough, but it turns out leaving can be even tougher.
The DIAA Western Bracket playoffs kick off in Bellingham, Wash. Saturday and after that's all done we'll have a finalist.
Kansas awaits the winner of the Western Bracket and then we'll have yet another DIAA champion.
Western Washington has already vaulted itself into the favorites conversation with a defeat of University of San Diego in late March.
