USA Rugby and D1A Rugby has named the 12 teams in the top men's college competition's playoffs.
We already knew two of the teams, as they played on Saturday (Penn State and Wisconsin). The rest of the first-round games will be held April 18.
CSU Northridge is 10 years more mature after its experience at the DII West regional championship. The Southern California champ won its two playoff games by a combined 13 points, beating UN Reno 41-32 in overtime Saturday (read more) and a hungry Humboldt 36-32 yesterday.
The playoff matchups are all set in Florida Youth Rugby’s Boys HS leagues as this past weekend’s results solidified who won their pools.
Central Washington didn’t have to prove that it was a good team; just a glimpse at its roster confirms as much. But last weekend’s DI West regional championship lent some depth to its talent, as the Wildcats defeated Stanford 53-7 in Sunday’s quarterfinal.
The top Boys HS teams in Oklahoma both logged good weekend in advance of Friday’s clash.
Bixby won the St. Louis Ruggerfest, beating St. Louis University High in the final.
Meanwhile, Union hosts East HS out of Colorado, and won 22-17 in a wild game.
