GRR: No name
We had more shifts in this final D2 ranking than you'd normally get after the finals weekend.
We wrap up this fall in our D1AA rankings after the NCR final.
We actually had a lot of thinking to do about this. Yes, of course, Kentucky is #1. The Wildcats were wire-to-wire this fall and there wasn't much doubt most of the season that they should be. Only their weird 8-7 SCRC final against Clemson sowed any doubt. But the final ... well the final sealed the deal.
And we come to our final NCR D1 rankings.
Since Week 4 Brown and Queens have been at the top of our rankings, switching back and forth. And they showed it in the final, with a very close game. In this case, #2 Brown beating #1 Queens 23-20. The performance of Brown of course puts them up to #1 and it also brings up St. Bonaventure to #3 after their 11-10 loss to Brown in the semis.
Mira Costa HS logged a nice early result in the CIF league in Southern California this past weekend, defeating Fallbrook at Fallbrook.
It was a fairly convincing win for Mira Costa, but Head Coach Duke Dulgarian cautioned against getting too carried away with the result, saying Fallbrook is in a big rebuilding phase, which certainly appears to be the case.
Paced by an impressive weekend by Don Holmes, IUP won its second straight NCR D2 championship, beating Northern Iowa in an entertaining and close-run final 38-29 Sunday.
