GRR: Women DI College
Easily the biggest women’s college game of the weekend, Army defeated Norwich 43-17 in a varsity shocker. The victory marked the first time that the West Pointers defeated the Cadets in 15s.
The Northeast has concluded week two of DI league play, and UConn has secured the top spot in the standings. The team has celebrated both wins at home and will test itself against 1-0 Rhode Island this weekend.
The Army Athletic Association chose Nicole Heavirland as its first Athlete of the Week for the fall 2015 season. It was a good selection considering that the Cadets’ 29-24 win over Quinnipiac headlined a very exciting weekend of college rugby (read more).
The Illinois conference is a hybrid league, mixing DI and DII women’s colleges together. The season-openers saw two cross-divisional matches occur, and the DI teams won both.
American International College (0-2) gave Norwich (1-0) a run, coming out hard in the DI varsity match Sunday. But the Cadets exerted themselves in the second half and pulled away for the 48-32 win.
