GRR: Utah State
It's easy to overlook Utah State.
The Aggies play in the Rocky Mountain Conference with some higher-profile teams, such as BYU, Utah, Air Force, Colorado, and Colorado State. But USU has done pretty well for itself as a rugby entity, and last year made the semis of the D1A Challenge Cup.
Nobody else might have expectations, but Utah State does.
CRAA’s new Challenger Cup playoff in Men’s D1A action had a pretty successful first weekend with two very competitive games.
The new plan from CRAA to have the Challenger Cup is kicking off this weekend.
Four teams will play in the quarterfinals with two teams, Mary Washington and Grand Canyon, getting a bye to the semifinals on April 19.
The final will be played May 3 as part of the CRAA's championship weekend in Indianapolis.
Last year’s CRAA Women’s D1 Fall Final saw Navy edge Davenport 20-12, but it’s possible that total of 32 points could be bypassed in the first 40 minutes.
Navy is back and faces a largely unknown and very dangerous Utah State team. Yes Navy has an excellent defense, but they can also score—boy can they score—and USU can score, too.
The CRAA Women’s D1 College final eight are set and the teams will face off this weekend to decide who plays in the national final December 4 in North Carolina.
