National Collegiate Rugby’s new Director of Men’s Rugby, Steve Hiatt, has some choppy waters to navigate, appropriate for the Head Coach at Cal Maritime Academy.
The phrase "moved to spring" can mean many things, and in fact defining that phrase will be next on the plate of many college conferences.
The Southern Rugby Conference Board has voted to cancel any rugby for the fall of 2020.
The conference, which recently announced a joining with NCR, and is a robust, two-tiered Men's DII collegiate competition, decided unanimously to move all rugby to the spring, with 15s and 7s still on the table.
As expected the dominoes are quickly falling in men's college rugby this fall, with conferences that play their 15s season in the fall announcing (or at least making it very clear) that they will not be playing as normal because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
National Collegiate Rugby is postponing the NCR 15s Championships for 2020.
The organization said that it hopes for alternatives if conditions related to the COVID-19 pandemic improve later in the year. NCR will make adjustments based on any progress.
