Men DII College News
The Great Lakes Men’s DII Conference has come down to this weekend, as Grand Valley State takes on Oakland University.
GVSU is normally the favored team in this conference, and in fact did very well last year, winning the Great Lakes, beating Northern Iowa in the first round of the playoffs, and losing to eventual national champs Minnesota-Duluth 24-3 - a very creditable scoreline.
It’s playoff speculation time.
Here’s a look at what we might see in the Men’s DII College playoffs:
Pittsburgh Brackets
(two groups of four teams will play here)
Rugby Northeast
MARC
New England Wide
Upstate NY

The regular season is done in the Tri-State Men's DII Conference, and the playoff matchups are set.
The two most interesting results of the final weekend came in the Tri-State North, where 4-0 Sacred Heart played 3-1 RPI, the defending conference champs, and 3-1 Siena took on 1-3 Union.
Hartford and Coast Guard both won big, setting up a likely all-marbles clash in two weeks in the New England Wide Conference.
Coast Guard ran out to a 43-7 halftime lead over Quinnipiac and cruised to a 69-7 win.
NC State edged VMI 35-27 Saturday in a clash of the two undefeated teams in the Cardinals Men’s DII conference.
The result of the game is that NC State will go into the playoffs with the #1 seed, but it’s also likely that these two teams will meet in the conference final.
