Loudoun County Rugby and a Barbarians team of players from around Northern Virginia took the titles at the Rugby Virginia State 7s championships in late July, with U12s, U14s, and U18s championships on offer on the day.
We’re still looking over the NAI 7s and this here is a nod to Belmont Shore.
The Long Beach-based rugby program, which covers every age group, was hugely successful throughout the tournament.
Belmont Shore entered six teams: Boys U18, Girls U16, Boys U16, Girls U14, Boys U14, and Coed U12.
After a strong showing in the NAI 7s, Berks County Rugby finished off their summer with a win at the Cocorico 7s in Maryland.
Hosted by the Bethesda Roosters, the tournament offered one more challenge for teams this summer.
Berks swept pool play, beating Loudon Rugby, Southern Pines and Vipers.
Berks County Rugby traveled to Stone Harbor, NJ to compete in the Elite High School Invitational division of Surfside 7s, hosted by Philadelphia-Whitemarsh RFC.
In a final warmup before leaving for NAI 7s in Utah, Berks utilized a combination of Utah bound players and players from their 2nd side.
The West Carroll Marauders defeated West Pitt 21-0 in the final of the Girls Division of the Cow Pie 7s held at Mount Saint Mary's University.
Lily Myers scored a try and made three conversions to be named the MVP of the final, while Layla Cox was a force throughout the day on defense. Cox also scored a try in the final, as did Marcela Aguilar-Martinez.
