Men’s Division 1AA (D1AA) represents a highly competitive tier of collegiate rugby in the United States, featuring programs governed by both National Collegiate Rugby (NCR) and the College Rugby Association of America (CRAA). It serves as a bridge between elite Division I play and developing Division II or Small College levels, offering strong regional competition and a pathway to national championships under each organization’s structure. While NCR and CRAA operate independently, both use the D1AA designation for schools with established programs that may not have the depth or resources of top-tier D1A teams.
D1AA Spring Rankings Week 1
We're back with our D1AA rankings, but they are changed.
We include the teams that are playing in the winter/spring. We'll have to wait for some of the HOA teams to play, and that's a bit of a balancing act, but Florida, California-Southwest, California-Northern California, and NCRC are all playing now (or about to).
Statement Opening Win for Loyola Marymount
Loyola Marymount’s win over Claremont Colleges is a good reminder that LMU is on a bit of a comeback trail.
The Los Angeles-based college looked solid in a 40-19 defeat of CC. Fullback Cole Conforti scored two tries in the game, as did wing Danny Childs. Centers Brad Aryeh and Philip Mitselmakher scored one each, and Brennan Curulla did well with a 5-for-6 day on kicking from the tee.
D1AA Latest: Spartans, Beavers, Seminoles
Florida's D1AA Conference and the two sides of the D1AA California Conference were on the field this weekend, and we're already seeing leading teams step forward.
Florida
Florida State made it to 2-0 with a 31-0 shutout of Central Florida. Center Tanner Smith scored two tries while No. 8 Andrew Crouch, scrumhalf Gonzalo Demartin, and reserve Dillon Burke all added one.
UNR v ARC Highlights D1AA Action This Weekend
Weather has forced one match in Florida’s D1AA league to move to another weekend, but two are hoping to get the games in if, as the poet Tom Petty says, “those orange groves don’t freeze.”
Which they might.
Florida Collegiate Season Opens With New Contenders
It's a new season for the Florida Collegiate Conference, and since last year's conference champs (and, ultimately, CRAA D1AA champs) St. Thomas has moved up to D1A, things are more wide open.
Major challenger Florida State, which fell to STU in the conference final last year, opened their season with a 28-14 win over University of Florida.
