Men D2 College Rankings 2025 Week 4
OK not much in the the way of changes in the top 10, except we have a new #10 and it's previous #16 Salisbury.
That was a big win for the Sharks over Georgetown.
Salisbury Impresses as Top Teams in MARC Raise Hands
But we do have major shifts in the rankings 11 through 40. We have some new ranked teams and also some major improvers. Cornell, Chicago, Miami, Benedictin (Ks.), Central Michigan, and UW-Milwaukee all jump up.
Now, we don't wish to be unkind, but we do think things are looking kinda grim after that. Teams in the 30s are losing by large margins to their higher-ranked opponents. This isn't like it's a 45-22 game (in fact, UMBC moves up simply because they had a score like that). It's, like, 73-7. We really don't feel confident about the 32 to 40 and semi-seriously considered cutting this ranking to 30. Yes, that's an issue. Yes it's nice to be ranked and yes it's nice to rank a lot of teams and say "hey look! You're ranked! Gives us another page view!"
But, to be honest, we'd rather be honest. those teams have some work to do. We've seen UMBC in-person and THEY have some work to do, and the teams ranked below them aren't as good.
Having said that, at the top end we might have one of the most competitive quarterfinals in a while. Someone's going to be a champion, but we're really not sure who that will be.
