GRR: National Teams
A week later and things aren't all that different for the USA Men's 7s team.
The Eagles played the same three teams in the Vancouver 7s that they played at the LA Sevens. They beat the same two opponents—Samoa and Scotland—and lost to the same opponent—Australia.
USA Men's Sevens Head Coach Mike Friday has made a few changes as the team moves from finishing th at the LA Sevens to the Canada Sevens in Vancouver, BC.
The USA took 5th at the LA Sevens, rebounding from a very unlucky quarterfinal to beat France and Ireland on Day Two.
Quarterfinal SadnessThe quarterfinal was distressing to watch. It wasn’t so much that the Eagles played poorly, but that they were the victims of either really poor luck or really poor refereeing.
The USA is 2-0 in the LA Sevens after a really strong second half that saw the Eagles pull away from Scotland.
For the second game in a row, the USA started slowly, and for the second game in a row it was Stephen Tomasin who get them back on the scoreboard.
Well the USA needed something after a rough outing against Samoa in the opening round of the LA Sevens.
The Eagles fell behind 12-0 to Samoa, with a little bit of a defensive breakdown, and then a slightly flukey play for the Samoans, when a loose ball from a lineout just bounced Samoa's way.
