Some notes from the 2015-16 Sevens World Series.

Top scorer for the entire series was Madison Hughes, whose final conversion in the 3rd/4th game against Fiji made sure he finished one point ahead of Seabelo Senatla of South Africa.

Perry Baker was 5th in scoring.

Baker finished second in tries with 48, behind Senatla’s astounding total of 66. Hughes was 17th with 23.

The USA 7s team finished 3rd in the London 7s Sunday, wrapping up a really strong finish to what had been a rough run of tournaments.

It was a weird tournament once again at Twickenham, mirroring somewhat how last year came about, where the Eagles had some really rocky performances in Glasgow and then turned around to win in London.

USA 7s team Head Coach Mike Friday has made one change to his squad going into the London 7s.

Nate Ebner will drop out of the team and suit up instead for the USA Falcons in Tours, France in a move that is obviously designed to get him more game time. Former West Point All American Ben Leatigaga comes into the USA team.

The USA Men’s 7s team did not play well in Paris, lost in the Bowl semifinals, and slipped from 5th to 6th in the World Series standings.

In fact, given the Eagles’ recent form, they might slip to 7th. This is a far cry from the first seven tournaments of the season, during which they finished in the top eight all seven times, and finished in the top four twice.

Pool Play at the Paris 7s was, for the second tournament in a row, not the best of news for the USA, as the Eagles finished 1-2.

It all started with difficulty as Argentina dominated in the opener on Friday, scoring three tries in the first half and three in the second to win 36-0. The Argentineans just took the Eagles apart.
