College Women
We see a bit of sisterhood, some worldliness, and plenty of challenges this week in NIRA.
Last week we saw yet another reason to keep a close eye on Quinnipiac.
The Bobcats have the week off this week and earned it after a controlled win over Navy 38-3 in which Navy hardly saw the opposing half. Quinnipiac's defense, precision, and catch-pass kept them on top the whole time.
This year’s NCR Women’s D1 competition is wide open.
Good teams from the 2023-24 season remain strong, and there are some significant additions to the competition this year. Here are some teams to watch:
In a sunny afternoon showdown at the US Naval Academy, the Quinnipiac women's rugby team displayed a commanding performance against Navy, culminating in a decisive 38-3 victory in NIRA D-I action Saturday.
We have five non-standings games within NIRA this week, with Oxford University coming to the Northeast to play Harvard and West Point.
Oxford is in-country right now and will train at Harvard Friday before playing the Crimson on Saturday. They then play West Point on Wednesday and the US Naval Academy next Friday.
The NIRA Power Ratings are out now and at first glance there aren't too many surprises.
The Power Ratings for the NCAA Women's D-I programs is what replaces straight standings and serves to compensate for the fact that the season isn't a straight round-robin.
