PRESS RELEASE Marietta, Ga. - After unprecedented success in their first season, Life U Women's Rugby coach Rosalind Chou is not resting on her laurels. Chou has been on the recruiting trail from day one, searching the country for talent and character as she looks to continue to build the program at Life U.
The 2016 Olympics is finally a reality for the USA Women 7s team, and with that event penciled in the calendar, attention can now be shared with the Eagle 15s team. The upcoming Women’s Rugby World Cup is in a three-year cycle, to better align with the Olympics and 7s World Cup, and will be contested in 2017 as opposed to 2018.
PRESS RELEASE - Hanover, N.H. — Dartmouth Director of Athletics and Recreation Harry Sheehy announced Thursday the hiring of Katie Dowty as the new head coach for women’s rugby.
Since our last – and first – Women’s College 7s Top 20 ranking, two events have occurred: USA Rugby’s College 7s Championship and the CRC 7s invitational. Those results obviously influenced the reorder of the rankings, but a few judgment calls were invoked that go against some place finishes.
Ego, ignorance, bias – whatever the root, every female rugby player has dealt with some level of inequitable treatment in her sport. The acknowledgement of that shared experience doesn’t justify its existence; the fight for deserved respect – among peers, in media, at national events – is a familiar battle.
