College Men
The USA Rugby Men’s Collegiate All Americans will likely be named Thursday or possibly Friday - at least part of the list, anyway.
The DIA College meetings were held this weekend and the conferences decided to add several teams for the 2016-17 season.
Every conference was represented at the meetings in Colorado, and among the many issues discussed was the addition of college programs hoping to move up.
Among the additions:
Grand Canyon University has announced it has hired Lindenwood University backs and 7s coach Cameron Wyper as the men's rugby program's new backs and 7s coach.
Wyper brings considerable playing and coaching experience to a GCU team that will include over 35 players who played high school rugby in the U.S.
This remembrance of Curt Huckaby, who started the rugby program at Arkansas State and was its life force for many years, was submitted by Patrick Stewart of Arkansas State Univesity.
The figure of Anthony Salaber has always been a little bit of a weird one.
At 6-5, even in high school he looked like a lock, striding in that long stride of his, looking more like an elk eating up ground with a loping stride than a jackrabbit scampering, zig-zaggedly through the underbrush.
