GRR: No name
Denver East HS is back from its City of Angels tour, the 29th tour the team has taken.
Rye HS defeated Greenwich HS in a close midweek game between one of the strongest teams in New York, and one of the strongest in Connecticut.
It was a cold, windy night in Westchester, NY in front of an energetic crowd with fans from both teams (they are actually only 10 miles away from each other).
We've talked about how close teams are in D1A, and this past weekend showed in some ways how that's true and in some ways how it's not.
The very strongest teams were able to test multiple lineups against opposition, but when they put in their best combinations, they win in impressive style. We're talking about Navy, Army, Central Washington, Lindenwood, and Life.
We see several big changes this week in the GRR School Top 50.
Much of this is based on Round 4 of the Rugby PA season, which saw St. Joe's Prep tie LaSalle and saw Malvern Prep also get another good result. Malvern lost to LaSalle and we were waiting on what that meant. Now we have both come in.
We made a bit of a joke about it, but it was pretty serious that we'd overlooked Westshore's start.
It was less an overlook as a bit of healthy skepticism, but we've been less skeptical of smaller resumés, so, yes, they deserve to be in the Top 50.
