The USA Falcons women took 2nd in the EAAST 7s in Haguenau, France.
The Falcons were 2-1 on Day One, beating Tropics 7s and Germany, while losing to the New Zealand Cavaliers.
That set up Sunday's semifinal with Tropics, which they won 19-10. The Cavaliers won their semi and so the two teams met up in the final.
Freda Tafuna and Oscar Treacy officially received their Washington Athletic Club College Player of the Year awards Saturday at a gala event in Seattle.
Xavier and Rye won their finals in Rugby NY's last weekend of action.
Rye took the Tier 2 final, beating Chaminade. Rye took an early lead chasing down a long kick for space and exploiting a Chaminade miscue which was helped along by heavy rains on the day.
The ball rolled to the Rye chasers and in they went.
The NCR Griffins teams found themselves on the winning side at the Algarve 7s in Portugal on Saturday.
The Griffins women did lose their opener, but that was to the Kazakhstan national team and it was close, 22-17.
But after that they blew past Ubuntu (a Portuguese team) 43-0 and St. Andrews 57-0.
For the men's team, it was a 3-0 day.
It was a pretty solid day at the EAAST 7s in Haguenau for the USA Falcons teams.
The Falcons women finished the day 2-1.
They beat the German national VII and Tropics 7s, and lost to the NZ Cavaliers.
The win over Germany was a close one, 14-10, while the loss to the Cavaliers was a step forward from their results vs (28-7 and 51-0) from last week in Cognac.
