Brown University and Dartmouth both moved to 3-0 in the Liberty NCR D1 with convincing wins over the weekend.
Mount St. Mary's produced their second straight solid result against well-regarded opponents, this time winning a Rugby East Conference clash with rivals Mary Washington 33-20.
It was a strong showing from Mount, who have a good rivalry with UMW but are a bit more experienced this year.
The big matchups in NIRA did not disappoint.
Dartmouth remains undefeated after beating Sacred Heart 43-29. SHU came into the game 2-0 in conference play; they lost last week to AIC but with a younger-than-usual lineup.
So really this was a game of two teams with strong playoff aspirations and it had the feel of a playoff game in many ways.
Life University kicked off their 2025-26 D1A season with a well-taken 35-7 defeat of Army West Point.
The win was also a nice precursor to Sunday’s ribbon-cutting ceremony for their spanking new lockers rooms.
Life started the game with their kickoff going into touch on the full, giving Army a scrum at the center of the field.
In probably the highest, profile Men's D2 college game of the weekend, IUP rode a torrid second half to pull away from Grand Valley State 48-19.
While this was not a conference game for either team, it mattered in terms of how they might be seeded if these teams make the NCR D2 playoffs, which they are expected to do.
