In recent weeks USA 7s team Head Coach Mike Friday said two things that stuck with me.
One was that the USA team had in recent years just been “participating” in the Sevens World Series. The other was in an interview with The Rugby Paper about the Olympics. He wasn’t talking about the USA specifically - he was more talking about the Great Britain team - but the comments are telling:

Penn State moved to 2-0 in the Women's Big Ten Universities Conference with a workmanlike 55-12 defeat of Michigan Saturday. Michigan tested Penn State early, and it was only 18-12 at halftime.

Towson University upended their longtime rivals Salisbury 32-21 Saturday in a game between the top two teams in the Potomac Men's DII College Conference. In a hugely physical game, Salisbury scored early to lead 7-0 and were still ahead even after Towson flanker Anthony Bria rambled in from 30 meters out - 7-5 Salisbury.
