Notre Dame College is heading back to Florida after its 2-0 weekend at the USA Rugby Women’s DII College Fall Championship, hosted by ACRA. The Ohio side is the only semifinalist that won its games convincingly – but that’s not to say that the games weren’t competitive.

SUNY Oswego defeated top-seeded SUNY Cortland 37-12 Sunday in the final of the Upstate NY Men’s DII league.

That game finalized the 16 teams in the USA Rugby National Playoffs.

Playing on a snowy, muddy pitch at the SUNY Oswego campus, both teams won their semifinals on Saturday, with Cortland dominating Niagara 20-3 and Oswego edging Buffalo State 19-12.

So what do we want to say about the USA’s 40-12 loss to Tonga? Easy - don’t turn the ball over. That’s it. Yes the USA scrum was shoved around by Tonga’s scrum, which isn’t that good. Yes the Eagles had the ball in the Tonga 22 for long periods and didn’t score.
