It’s tempting to just talk about Fallbrook in SoCal, but there’s a whole tier of U18 girls teams benefiting from playing the best team in the nation. South Bay is one of them. The Spartans spent the first three years of existence gaining traction in the community with 7s, then 10s, 12s, and finally 15s in 2014. Last year, South Bay advanced to the SoCal final, against Fallbrook.
The season is about to begin in cold regions and the Union Mud Turtles out of New Jersey can hardly wait.
Coming off a 38-19 scrimmage loss to Doylestown, the Mud Turtles have a tough Christian Brothers Academy team this weekend followed by #4 Xavier.
But Union isn’t backing down.
Despite starting the season 3-0, the Chuckanut Bay rugby club in northern Washington state still has some work to do.
The U19 program that produced three Eagle props (Shawn Pittman, Nick Wallace, and Titi Lamositele) is working hard to develop some talented young players, but the operative word is “young.”
Reports around France are that USA U20 and University of Maryland flyhalf Ben Cima has been in talks with Stade Toulouse in the French Top 14.
Cima is in assembly with the U20s right now, but could be brought in at Toulouse as an emergency medical replacement following Clemente Poitrenaud suffering a broken ankle that has ended his season.
Now the job gets a little harder.
After losing a close one to Life and winning a close one over Davenport, Lindenwood looks to unseat Life at home, and perhaps put them in a position to win the Mid-South.
