The Fairfield Rugby Club didn’t really know what to expect in the Rugby Connecticut HS club final June 13 - after a 5-2 regular season they knew they could be beaten, and their opposition, Cheshire, was undefeated.
Mariah Plieseis’ path was set. The Tennessee soccer star had landed an athletic scholarship, and all she had to do was finish out her senior year at Maryville High School before graduating to the next phase of her life. So why exactly is the 18-year-old one of Lindenwood Rugby’s incoming recruits? Let’s start at the beginning.

The girls Northeast Regional Cup Tournament was a modest affair with only three teams in attendance, but all of the games between Vermont/Capital District, Massachusetts, and Connecticut were tough, hotly contested matches. And some up-and-coming talent didn’t go unnoticed.
