PORTLAND, Ore. — In front of an electrified crowd at Providence Park, rugby’s elite athletes and emerging stars delivered a spectacle of speed, power, and precision at Sunday’s PR7s All-Star Tournament. For 19 Olympians returning to U.S. soil after competing in Paris, the event was a triumphant showcase—and they did not disappoint.
Well it wasn't a complete Rugby East sweep, as Big Rivers runners-up Wheeling defeated Kutztown 34-28 Sunday to move on to the NCR D1 quarterfinals.
With LSU's impressive victory on the road against NC State and a dramatic MAC final we now know our NCR D1AA final eight.
LSU beat South Carolina last week to take 3rd in the SCRC and that put them up against top Southern Conference team North Carolina State.
The Tigers won 40-10 and booked a spot in the NCR quarterfinals.
For the third year in a row it will be Dartmouth vs Harvard in the Women's NIRA D-I final.
Both teams won their semifinals on Saturday.
Two weeks after beating Brown by over 40, Dartmouth faced Brown again and much more difficulty shaking their Ivy League rivals. Brown did well to rebound from a strong Dartmouth start, but they did end up chasing the Big Green.
Navy pulled away from BYU in the middle portion of they game to win a high-ranking D1A match that signaled to many that both mean business.
Navy improved to 10-1 overall, with their only loss being a 23-20 decision to Life, while BYU gets their first loss of the fall and is now 5-1.
