With the play-ins for the final spots for the national playoffs done, we get a better send of the relative strengths of the various conferences. It's a small sample, to be sure, but something to go on.

This is what we found out: Cardinals is legit, even with their #2 losing to Potomac's #2, Towson was a heavy favorite and VMI (badly under-ranked last week) made them sweat.

SUNY Oswego defeated top-seeded SUNY Cortland 37-12 Sunday in the final of the Upstate NY Men’s DII league.

That game finalized the 16 teams in the USA Rugby National Playoffs.

Playing on a snowy, muddy pitch at the SUNY Oswego campus, both teams won their semifinals on Saturday, with Cortland dominating Niagara 20-3 and Oswego edging Buffalo State 19-12.

Central Washington made quite the statement Sunday with a 124-0 pasting of Washington State in the NCRC league opener for both teams. There’s nothing much to say about this game except that it was one-way traffic and didn’t get any easier for the Cougars when the subs came on. Josh Bower kicked 12 conversions for 24 points.

A week before the ACRC Bowls, the ACRL champion Clemson Tigers took on the US Naval Academy.

Navy has been following a challenging fall schedule, playing highly-regarded teams every month or so. They defeated Ohio State 48-10 August 29, lost to Air Force 38-26 October 3, and beat Maryland 54-21 October 25.
