GRR: College Men

irish rugby tours

So this week is the Game of the Year … at least for now … in the NECRC.

This Men’s DII college conference has been one of the most competitive in college rugby, with three teams in a virtual tie for 1st most of the season, and with the other three teams, while not killing it in the win column, competitive every week.

Rowan College may still be undefeated in the MARC Conference South, but it was a rough test for them last week.

The team was late to the venue, shortening their warmup, and missing a couple of players because of injury, and as a result saw York run out to an early lead.

East Carolina finishes up their Southern Rugby Conference league season with a game against Elon Saturday, with a chance to go undefeated.

Their first five games could hardly have gone any better, as ECU has outscored opponents 187-22, including a most impressive 36-5 defeat of their closest rivals in the Southern Conference North Division, Appalachian State.

Big Game; it is the Big Game; It has to be the Big Game; it’s traditional, and two undefeated teams, and a championship perhaps on the line; Gamecocks v Volunteers … big Big BIG.

Penn State is still in with a shot to win the Rugby East, but to do that the Nittany Lions will have to get by the always difficult Iona College.
