The first week of results in the Gold Coast Rugby Conference has quickly established a large gulf between the stronger teams and the less-strong teams.

Santa Barbara City College beat UC Irvine 55-5 on Saturday. Long Beach State hammered Cal State Fullerton 70-0, and San Diego took down UC San Diego 62-0.

Cal State Long Beach made a huge statement Saturday with a 70-0 defeat of Cal State Fullerton in a game that was expected by many to be much, much closer.

Fullerton ran a game plan with two of their bigger former forwards now in the backs. They had hoped to power through the CSULB defense, but Long Beach held them.

The Northwest Collegiate Rugby Conference got a nice little shakeup with Saturday's results, as previously 2-0 Western Washington was upended 10-0 by the University of Washington.

The Husky may not have brought too much offensive firepower, but they played tough defense against a WWU team had already beaten Oregon and Western Oregon.

Cal and UCLA won in the opening weekend of the PAC Rugby Conference.

The Cal Bears thrashed a good Arizona team 76-0, with Harry Adolphus touching down twice early, once in the middle, and three times late for an astounding six tries, and Jake Anderson logging 24 points with the boot and two tries.
