GRR: College Men
While most college teams are easing into the New Year, Saint Mary’s is active and playing league games.
Saturday the Gaels traveled to UC Davis and came away with a convincing 97-0 victory. This follows up on an early 93-0 conference win over Santa Clara, putting Saint Mary’s at 2-0 in the California Conference when most teams in the West haven’t started playing.
The Liberty D1A Conference has named its All-Conference team.
Iona College scrumhalf Connor Buckley was named the league MVP as he led Iona to an undefeated league season. AIC earned two additional awards as Tommy Clark and Luis Sitama were named best forward, and best back, respectively.
Game two of Fordham's three-game tour of Ireland resulted in a second-straight victory, as the Ram defeats Galwegians 33-17.
After beating Athy 19-17 Fordham was expecting another tough, competitive match, and got it.
Hosted well on and off the pitch by the Galway club, Fordham got tries from Tony Kutz and Tom Hurst in the first half.
The D1A rankings have a direct effect on the D1A playoffs, as they are used to seed the playoff tournament, so it's no surprise that some teams are looking very closely at those rankings as the spring season approaches.
The Fordham University Men's Rugby team took a big step into Irish sporting culture yesterday with a visit to Croke Park, the site of Ireland's Gaelic sporting championships.
