USA Rugby South gets to step up for the United States once more this month as the Panthers enter the Rugby Americas North (previously known as NACRA) U19 championships.
The South Panthers entered two teams last year when one of the participating countries couldn’t make it. Their A team made the final before being shut out by Mexico. The B team, as expected, struggled.
The USA Rugby South U19 all-star program has finalized its squad to play in the Rugby Americas North (what used to be NACRA) U19 Championships.
The USA Rugby South U19 program is back playing in the Rugby Americas North 15s championships.
The Panthers will compete July 7-17 against teams from the Caribbean, as they have in previous years, representing the USA.
The USA Rugby South may have fallen short in the team's quest for a NACRA U19 championship, losing 24-0 to Mexico in the final, but they did their region, and the country, proud.
Mexico dominated the final of the NACRA U19 Championships, not letting the USA South A team getting anywhere and winning 24-0.
The South kept up the fight but could not crack the Mexico defense.
In other action Saturday, Cayman Islands beat Turks & Cacos 29-26 in a thriller to take 5th, or the Plate.
