GRR: USA Men 7s
Zack Test had a unique opportunity to see some of the younger USA 7s players in action before he actually took over the Men's 7s Head Coach job.
Tasked as he was to coach the women's team, Test opted to leave the men's squad alone for the first week. Ben Pinkelman and Colton Cariaga were coaching the team and they knew what players they had.
It’s fair to say that the USA Falcons men’s team exceeded expectations at the EAAST 7s tournaments in France over the past two weeks.
Playing against almost-international teams and professional touring sides, the mostly collegiate group, brought together just a few days before the first tournament, were up against it.
The USA Falcons women took 2nd in the EAAST 7s in Haguenau, France.
The Falcons were 2-1 on Day One, beating Tropics 7s and Germany, while losing to the New Zealand Cavaliers.
That set up Sunday's semifinal with Tropics, which they won 19-10. The Cavaliers won their semi and so the two teams met up in the final.
It was a pretty solid day at the EAAST 7s in Haguenau for the USA Falcons teams.
The Falcons women finished the day 2-1.
They beat the German national VII and Tropics 7s, and lost to the NZ Cavaliers.
The win over Germany was a close one, 14-10, while the loss to the Cavaliers was a step forward from their results vs (28-7 and 51-0) from last week in Cognac.
It' on to Haguenau for the EAAST 7s and the USA Falcons teams.
The second EAAST 7s tournament kicks off in a few hours—3:45AM ET in fact—with the Americans in action immediately.
