GRR: USA Men 7s
The SVNS series can seem awfully unfair at times.
Appropriately enough USA captain Kevon Williams celebrated his 50th tournament by being the first to touch the ball and by scoring two tries as the USA men’s 7s team opened their LA 7s account with a 31-12 defeat of Samoa.
The USA Men’s Sevens team took 4th at the Vancouver SVNS after another tournament in which they showed flashes of greatness and then fell away.The Eagles were torched by three quick tries in their opening pool game, against France, to start their weekend. After the 24-12 loss, the Eagles rode got a bit of magic from Perry Baker.
After getting turfed out of the Perth SVNS quarterfinals the USA Men's 7s team capped off their weekend with a win over Spain to take 7th.
The HSBC SVNS series can give and it can take away.
For the USA Men's team they rolled into the quarterfinals having gone 3-0 in Pool Play, only to be summarily turfed out by a team they had already beaten.
