GRR: Tennessee HS Rugby
Defense has been the order of the day for the Harpeth Harlequins as they logged two wins in the past week.
H2 defeated an up-and-coming Spring Hill team five days ago, holding their opponents to just to one try while scoring four. And then Saturday they followed that up with a 19-0 shutout of the Tennessee Rugby Academy.
While there are several high school rugby teams playing a little on the down-low, there are leagues and tours that have been approved by governing bodies, and teams that have secured their own insurance to get the job done.
Under beautiful blue skies and with perfect weather, the Harlequins capped off an undefeated, albeit abbreviated, 7s season with a 17-12 victory over the Mustangs out of Germantown in the state tournament final.
The Ravenwood Raptors cruised convincingly through the field to win the Tennessee HS Girls 7s Saturday in Knoxville.
With COVID restrictions making it tough for teams to be able to prepare, only four teams competed, and the competition was then formatted into a six-game round-robin.
