GRR: St. Thomas Aquinas
It's time to bring back our Gamebreakers column as boys HS rugby is now in (almost) full swing.
We saw some excellent clutch plays and strong performances around the country this past week, from West Virginia out to Southern California. Here's a look at some special efforts from High School rugby around the nation:
St. Thomas Aquinas powered through Bixby 41-14 to open up the season for the Saints.
Head Coach Tim Kluempers had a very strong team in 2020 and has come back with a group that might have a few questions, but seems to have started when it left off last year.
It was all set up beautifully for St Thomas Aquinas this season—the Overland Park, Kan. private school has already logged wins against four ranked teams, and was set to go on tour; then it all ended.
St. Thomas Aquinas is flying high after this weekend's Lindenwood Tournament, as the STA varsity beat both Single-School #7 Penn HS and HS Club #11 Germantown.
Penn defeated St. Thomas Aquinas 39-0 in a season-opener for the Indiana team.
It was Penn's third time outside, and while Aquinas had been on the field already, but this was still early days.
