GRR: St. Mary's
St. Mary’s held off a determined Lindenwood University 24-13 on a wet Saturday in Moraga, Calif.
The touring Lindenwood team started well, kicking a penalty goal thanks to freshman flyhalf Tadhg Leader, and then seeing loose forward and captain Sebastian Kalm cut in nicely on a support line, take the offload, and power through several Gaels tackles for a try next to the posts.
St. Mary's finished off their two-game trip to Arizona with a convincing 80-12 defeatx of Arizona State Sunday.
The Gaels were led by Arizona HS product Dylan Audsley, who scored 30 points on the day, but with nine players scoring 12 tries, they also spread the glorty a little.
St. Mary's opened up their two-date tour of Arizona with an impressive 73-7 defeat of the University of Arizona Wildcats Friday night in Tucson.
Arizona was missing four players who are at the USA U20 camp, however, this was still a solid Gaels outing. St. Mary's led 30-7 at halftime and exploded for 43 unanswered points in the second half.
St. Mary’s got a bit of a wakeup call this weekend as the Gaels went down 44-3 to the San Francisco Golden Gate men’s club.
This result came after a string of pre-season victories over collegiate opponents. St. Mary’s Head Coach Tim O’Brien said the performance was frustrating - not so much because his team lost, but rather the manner in which they lost.
St. Mary's opened up their season this weekend with a convincing 50-7 victory over San Francisco State.
The Gaels also won the B-side game as the two-time defending DIA champions look ahead to a very challenging schedule that includes, of course, California Conference opponents San Diego State, UCSB, Santa Clara, and Cal Poly.
