GRR: Southern California
Southern California enters its school team playoff phase, and one part of that for the boys is a 7s championship.
Eighteen teams participated in the Boys D1 7s this winter, with six more playing in the Open division.
Of the 18 in D1, nine are now in the playoffs:
Pool A: JSerra, Santa Fe Christian, Patrick Henry
Pool B: Valley Center, Poway, Laguna Beach
Carlsbad defeated St. Anthony's 43-7 Saturday, moving to 3-0 in SoCal Youth Rugby's Open Division.
The game was might tighter than the score reflects, with St. Anthony's center Sone Aupio causing Carlsbad plenty of problems when he had the ball.
Crean Lutheran seems to have hit their stride after suffering a tough loss last week, rebounding to beat La Jolla in impressive fashion 52-14 Friday night in Southern California.
The Saints entered the second of a tough three-game stretch and looked to bounce back after losing 47-12 to St Anthony's last week.
Torrey Pines remains undefeated in Southern California after a fairly convincing 41-14 defeat of Long Beach Poly.
Southern California saw Torrey Pines, Carlsbad, and St. Anthony all take victories.
Torrey Pines hosted Centennial (Cen10) and their ferocious defense on Friday. It took Torrey Pines 15 minutes to find their way through, but flyhalf Jonty Lee finally found a gap, deked the fullback and touched down under the sticks.
