San Diego, CA - The United States Rugby Foundation has announced that its Graham Downes Scholarship recipients are Ian Slack and Jackson Baere.
After playing five rugby games and 230 minutes of rugby over the weekend, the San Diego Mustangs and Coastal Dragons still had a playoff game to play.
It's been a thrilling day at the Pacific Cup in Hawaii, with the USA-based teams showing very well in a tight, competitive tournamnt.
Two-time defending champs Danville out of Northern California ended the day 2-0, as did the Coastal Dragons of Southern California, and Hawai'i-based St. Francis. They were the only three teams undefeated.
The playoffs are set in the Southern California HS Club boys league.
South Bay and Back Bay won via forfeit, as did the Irvine Rhinos.
The San Diego Mustangs defeated Snow Canyon in a meeting between one of the top teams in Southern California, and one of the top teams in Snow Canyon.
The game was played at the Army-Navy Academy Sports Complex in Carlsbad, Calif. The teams were evenly-matched early on as they probed each other with kicks.
