GRR: Rugby World Cup
USA Men's 15s Hed Coach Gary Gold has made a couple of changes for his lineup as the Eagles face Portugal Friday in Dubai for the final spot in Rugby World Cup 2023.
It's winner take all as both Portugal and the USA are 2-0 in the Final Qualifier Tournament.
Patience may well be the key tool in the USA's toolbox this weekend.
Their forwards can win ball, win scrums, and use lineouts as a launching pad; they can defend; they can score tries through their backs and as a team ... but it could all come very slowly against Hong Kong. Goodness knows it came slowly against Kenya.
Job #1 is done but there are two more big jobs to do for the USA Men’s 15s team.
And even within that first victory over Kenya—yes they won, yes they won by 44, yes they got the bonus point for four tries—there are key work-ons.
The first step toward Rugby World Cup 2023 qualification was taken by the USA Sunday in Dubai.
After a slow start and a few misfires, the Eagles pulled away from Kenya to the tune of 68-14, winning the first of their three-game Final Qualification series.
USA Men's 15s Head Coach Gary Gold has named his gameday roster of 23 to face Kenya in Sunday's first Final Qualifier Tournament game.
