GRR: NCR
Rugby 7s is now on the forefront of a large chunk of the college rugby community as several major championships are set to be held in May.
Goff Rugby Report sat down with USA Rugby CEO Ross Young to discuss the organization’s relationship with National Collegiate Rugby.
As a follow-up to that interview, GRR contacted NCR and received several statements from NCR CEO Jeremy Treece as something of a counterpoint to Young’s comments.
Twenty-four players have been named to the NCR All-Star all-tournament team.
The All Star National Shield Challenge, held on January 15-16 at the Houston Sabercats’ AVEVA Stadium, brought together eight regional All Star teams and five Rising Star teams. The event included over 330 players from 130 schools across the country.
New England Red won the NCR collegiate all-star championship with a hard-nosed forward effort and some very smart game management, holding off a tenacious Pacific Coast team 18-8.
Endurance in the NCR Collegiate All-Star tournament was a key factor on Saturday and will be even more so on Sunday.
