While we have heard the big BIG news about World Rugby’s new SVNS branding and the return of the LA 7s (SVNS LAX!), before we get caught up in all that the USA Men’s 7s team has two pretty important tournaments to deal with.
The USA Rugby South U19s once again won the Rugby Americas North championship, beating hosts Jamaica 18-15 in the final.
The South, which represents the USA in this tournament every year, opened up pool play with a 19-0 shutout of Cayman and a 17-5 win over Trinidad & Tobago.
USA South is into the final of the Rugby Americas North U19 championship after just barely getting through the second round of games Friday in Kingston, Jamaica.
The Panthers had a tough game to start in a round-robin against teams from the opposite pool. They faced defending champs Mexico, who didn't have a great Day One but were still tough.
USA Rugby South ended Day 1 of the Rugby Americas North U19 Men's 15s competition 2-0 and are in good position to go deep in the competition.
The Panthers beat a tough Jamaican side 21-7 before shutting out Trinidad & Tobago 31-0.
The USA South Panthers U19 men's team has selected its lineup to face Jamaica in the opening game of the Rugby Americas North U19 competition.
The Panthers were runners-up in the last iteration of this tournament, which was in 2019. They lost to Mexico 30-20. They were runners-up to Los Serpientes in 2018 as well but won the tournament in 2017.
