SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif.(Cal Rugby Release) - The University of California defeated Arizona DState 53-0 in the final of the West Coast 7s to win the tournament Saturday at the Cal Poly Sports Complex, going 4-0.
Pool Play is done in the West Coast 7s, and Cal, Arizona, Arizona State, and UC Davis going 2-0 in the preliminaries.
Cal gave up one try in each of their games, defeating a solid-looking Grand Canyon team and also disposing of Santa Barbara City College.
The West Coast 7s kicks off on Saturday and will be the first serious run-out in college 7s for almost all of the 12 teams participating, and they are teams that have high expectations through the season.
Cal is the #1 seed, with UCLA #2, Arizona State #3, Cal Poly #4, and Arizona #5. (The seeds were voted on by the participating coaches.)

College 7s on the West Coast got started in Bellingham, Wash., as 16 teams played in the Western Washington University 7s Saturday, with Central Washington emerging as cup winners.
