Men DII College News
It’s serious playoff time now in Men’s DII, and one wonders if anyone can catch Wisconsin Whitewater.
Did USA Rugby do it right after all?
Plenty of DII college rugby fans weren't happy with the choice of at-large teams.
USA Rugby collegiate jefe Rich Cortez said it was a tough choice, and acknowledged to Goff Rugby Report that maybe the MARC deserved a second seed, and perhaps there shouldn't be a #3 team in the playoffs.
RPI defeated Sacred Heart 32-27 to win the Tri-State Conference for the second time in three years.
"We were able to prove what we thought, which is we're able to play at a top level for a full game," said hooker Ray Lanzillo, who led a strong forward effort, especially in the lineouts. "We always come out really hard, but in this game we played hard for a full 80 minutes."
We're down to one more DII playoff spot to be decided.
Sunday, RPI hosts Sacred Heart in the Tri-State final.
Saturday, the play-ins were held, and the WIIL Conference came out of it pretty well.
#2 Illinois State edged the Midwest winner IUPUI 24-21. The WIIl #3, UW-Milwaukee, defeated Minnesota-Duluth 39-31 to halt Duluth's longtime run to the national final four.
