Julien Saubade’s two second-half tries were the difference in the Emirates Dubai Rugby Sevens Bowl Semifinal Saturday as France ended the Men’s Eagles Sevens’ weekend with a 24-15 win. The Eagles gain five points from the second leg of the 2014-15 World Rugby HSBC Sevens World Series.

The USA is in the Bowl semis after somehow beating Japan 14-12 in the Bowl Quarterfinals on Day Two of the Dubai 7s. The Eagles fell behind 12-0 to Japan thanks to some penalties and turnovers - the second Japan try came with Danny Barrett in the sin-bin. But the Eagles started to come back in the second half.

 The USA Men’s 7s team can look at one or two very specific things that undercut their Day One in Dubai. Not least of these was a tough pool - none of the teams in their pool were pushovers.

The USA will play for the Bowl in the Men's Dubai 7s Saturday in Dubai after going 1-2 in a tough pool. In the opening game the USA did just fine when they kept the ball, but they ran into penalty trouble early and thrice - despite Head Coach Mike Friday’s admonitions - turned a promising possession into an England penalty. All three involved Danny

It’s easy to point out that the USA might have finished November 3-1 had they been able to call on all of their seasoned pros for the entire month. Had they fielded a lesser lineup against New Zealand, they likely would have given up 100 points, and left 61,000 fans feeling cheated, but they would have beaten Fiji and would have likely beaten Tonga, as well.
